English Premier League side Manchester City has named a training pitch after their former captain, İlkay Gündoğan.
The English club Manchester City has named one of its training pitches after its former captain, İlkay Gündoğan, who has turned 33.
According to the statement released by the club, one of the training pitches was named after the Turkish-origin German footballer in recognition of his contributions to the team during his 7-year tenure.
The Manchester side also installed a mosaic at the training ground, created by sculptor Mark Kennedy, in honor of the goal İlkay Gündoğan scored against Aston Villa last season.
During his Manchester City career, İlkay Gündoğan won the UEFA Champions League, as well as 5 Premier League titles, 4 League Cups, and 2 FA Cups.
Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also thanked İlkay Gündoğan for his services and contributions in a post on his social media account.
İlkay Gündoğan transferred to the Spanish team Barcelona at the beginning of the season.
