In the second match of EURO 2024 Group F, Turkey was defeated 3-0 by Portugal. Following the match, while head coach Vincenzo Montella's squad selections were being criticized, National Teams Director Hamit Altıntop clarified the allegations that he was interfering with the squad.

"I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A THOUGHT"

In his response to the claims that he is "interfering with the squad," Hamit Altıntop said, "It is actually very sad to have to answer this here. You bring in a coach you believe in, you give him responsibility, and you believe he will be successful. Then such a question comes up. Unfortunately, I want to turn this into the saying 'A person judges others by themselves.' I have never had such a thought to this day. This is a subject that does not represent me in any way."
