Hasan Arat to Dursun Özbek: 'We went there and stroked the children's cheeks, but we didn't let anyone stroke ours'

Making statements to members of the press at Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium, Beşiktaş President Hasan Arat criticized the comments made today by Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek regarding aid provided to the earthquake zone.

"DO NOT TAKE OUR NAME IN YOUR MOUTH LIKE THIS, YOU WILL REGRET IT"

Hasan Arat said the following:

"The esteemed president has been too caught up in the election rush. Such communities must be careful with their rhetoric. You must be careful when criticizing Beşiktaş regarding charity. Beşiktaş is very heavy; you will be crushed underneath it. Beşiktaş went to the region immediately the moment the earthquake happened. Trucks departed from here with the flags of all three clubs. Community leaders must be careful with these matters. Beşiktaş arrived in Hatay the same morning, set up its tents, and cooked its soup. It rushed to the side of the people in every matter, established container cities and schools, and has not ceased its interest in the region. I am watching with sadness and distress; it was not right, it was not becoming. Especially, do not take our community in your mouth like this, or you will regret it later. We went there and stroked the children's cheeks, but we didn't let anyone stroke ours."

"IT WILL BE WITHIN THE SPIRIT OF SPORTSMANSHIP"

Stating that playing the Ziraat Turkish Cup Final match at Atatürk Olympic Stadium is suitable for them, President Arat expressed the following:

“TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi called me yesterday with great courtesy. He asked, “President, where are you thinking?” I said it would be more appropriate for us to have this discussion together with the Trabzonspor President. President Doğan is a very important person. He is a man who keeps his word. Sitting at the same table with him to discuss the final match is a good thing. Beşiktaş has reached the final in the Ziraat Turkish Cup. May 23 is very precious and important for Beşiktaş. They mentioned Atatürk Olympic Stadium for the final match. They are very kind. This stadium is a national stadium. Beşiktaş was going to bring this proposal anyway. Ertuğrul Bey making this statement from Trabzon has relieved all of Turkey. Because playing the Turkish Cup Final in a stadium where last season's UEFA Champions League Final match was played suits Turkey. Playing under this flag suits Turkey. Therefore, our people will be happy with this situation. All Beşiktaş fans will be happy in this situation. We will host the people of Trabzon here in the best way possible. Speaking about the new charter, which he argues has pioneered many innovations, Arat concluded his words as follows:

“Today, Beşiktaş's Extraordinary Charter Amendment Congress is being held. Our congress is being held on a rainy day. We Beşiktaş fans love rainy days. Important work was done before the congress. Important work has been done so far. The charter is a revolutionary charter. It is an important legacy we can leave to the future. If Beşiktaş fans approve this charter today, Beşiktaş fans will be proud of it on the streets. They will be proud in every environment they are in. The relatives of our martyrs, our veterans, our Olympic and Paralympic athletes will automatically become members of our community. On the other hand, we will spread the membership payments of our university students over long terms. This was also in our election manifesto. From the moment a baby is born, they will receive their Beşiktaş Fan Club card, and they will be able to become a member when they turn 18. Again, we have introduced a requirement for a minimum of 2 female members in all our institutions. In addition to this, we did not leave the signature authority in management institutions solely to the president. We increased the signature authority to two. This situation will, in a sense, ensure that the management's powers are limited and auditable. We have introduced innovations such as electronic general assembly, electronic audit board, and electronic member application.

All of these are indicators showing how Beşiktaş looks to the future and adapts to this change. I thank our valuable charter board members who gave great effort and time to this charter work, all our congress members who came here in this rain, and again the Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Ozan Veli Çakır, and the entire Ministry of Sports who showed great care in the preparation of the charter, on behalf of my community. I think we have reached a good point. It is becoming a beautiful charter. I hope we will also have a beautiful finale. We are holding a charter meeting in our stadium for the first time. We were expecting a beautiful day, but it didn't happen. We held our opening. This is the old open stand where the late Süleyman Abi (Seba) scored a goal when İnönü Stadium was opened.
