He grabbed Tayfur Bingöl by the collar! Eric Bailly apologized
Eric Bailly, who argued with and grabbed Tayfur Bingöl by the collar during the away match against Antalyaspor, apologized in a post on his social media account. Bailly had been substituted by technical director Burak Yılmaz.
Beşiktaş were the guests of Antalyaspor last night in the 11th week of the Süper Lig. A verbal argument that started on the pitch between Tayfur Bingöl and Eric Bailly following a play towards the end of the first half carried over into the tunnel. While it was alleged that as the Beşiktaş players were heading to the locker room, Eric Bailly grabbed Tayfur Bingöl by the collar and made remarks to the effect of, "wake up, you're sleeping on the pitch, pull yourself together," technical director Burak Yılmaz, who witnessed the situation, took the Ivorian defender out of the game and replaced him with Rosier.
In the second half, the team suddenly fell 3-1 behind after conceding 3 goals in the 46th, 50th, and 57th minutes. Although Jackson Muleka reduced the deficit to one with his goal in the 79th minute, there were no more goals in the remaining time, and Beşiktaş left the pitch with a 3-2 defeat.
HARSH REACTION FROM BURAK YILMAZ
Speaking after the match, Burak Yılmaz stated that he took Eric Bailly out of the game at halftime due to an action that was "completely inappropriate."
Stating that the Beşiktaş jersey is more valuable than his own coaching career, Burak Yılmaz said, "The Beşiktaş jersey is very valuable to me. It is more valuable than a victory. It is more valuable than my coaching life. You cannot grab my player by the collar, by the Beşiktaş jersey, and you cannot continue this. I will not let that happen. I give the jersey to the players with trembling hands. They should not use it and give it back like this. If I gave it, I also know how to take it back. What is important here is the Beşiktaş jersey. I will take it back from those who cannot use it, those who are disrespectful, those who are rude. I am saying this clearly. Especially for someone who comes to our country and is disrespectful or rude to our players, I will never accept it. I am that kind of man. If I am to continue, I will continue my coaching life like this."
APOLOGY POST FROM BAILLY
Late at night, Eric Bailly shared a post on his social media account regarding the events. The experienced defender apologized to Burak Yılmaz, his teammates, and the black-and-white community.
The 29-year-old Ivorian defender used the following expressions in his post:
"The tension of competition pushes us to be more successful, and that is all we want. We all want to win, we want the best. I apologize to the coach, my teammates, and the Beşiktaş family for my mistake. Let's keep our heads up and focus on our next match!"
