He had announced his candidacy for the presidency: A call to the Fenerbahçe board from Hakan Bilal Kutlualp!
Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Hakan Bilal Kutlualp announced in a statement following the Beşiktaş defeat that he would initiate the signature process for an extraordinary congress.
Waters are not calming down at Fenerbahçe. The Yellow-Navies, who lost 1-0 at home to Beşiktaş last night, have fallen 8 points behind league leaders Galatasaray with 4 weeks left in the season, effectively throwing in the towel in the title race.
Following the derby, the focus of the reactions was primarily on Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and head coach Jose Mourinho. Fenerbahçe fans have called on congress members to provide signatures for an extraordinary election.
ALI KOÇ REJECTED THE CONGRESS CALL
At the Fenerbahçe High Council meeting held last April, former board member Hakan Bilal Kutlualp had called on the Ali Koç administration to hold a congress and announced his candidacy. Ali Koç, however, had declared from the podium that he would not go to an extraordinary congress.
KUTLUALP'S STATEMENT AFTER THE DERBY DEFEAT
Hakan Bilal Kutlualp made a statement following the Beşiktaş defeat.
Kutlualp, who was once on the board under Aziz Yıldırım, said regarding the signature campaign initiated by the fans, "The necessary number of signatures will certainly be collected during this process."
Emphasizing that the Ali Koç administration has lost its connection with the fans, Kutlualp made the following call to the board:
"Let it not be forgotten that every minute wasted by the administration in this process will cause damages that will become increasingly difficult to compensate.
I would like you to know that in the broadcast I will attend on Thursday, I will share with the public all the details, including the signature process, regarding the steps we need to take for an extraordinary congress."
The full text of Kutlualp's statement is as follows:
"In this period where the administration has lost its connection with its fans in a way never seen before in our Fenerbahçe; it is commendable that our congress members, who represent nearly 30 million fans, are taking initiative and reacting with the responsibility and awareness of protecting this sacred trust.
The fact that this will is being demonstrated by the congress members on behalf of the fans, who are the true owners of Fenerbahçe, is the greatest indicator that we will return to the days we long for.
This grassroots movement initiated by our fans and congress members without any guidance, and the subsequent signature campaign, are of vital importance for our Fenerbahçe. The necessary number of signatures will certainly be collected during this process.
My call to the administration from here is this:
In order not to tire our fans, who are already exhausted enough, they should operate this democratic mechanism in a way befitting Fenerbahçe without being forced to, and should truly open those doors by taking an extraordinary congress decision without wasting time.
Let it not be forgotten that every minute wasted by the administration in this process will cause damages that will become increasingly difficult to compensate.
I would like you to know that in the broadcast I will attend on Thursday, I will share with the public all the details, including the signature process, regarding the steps we need to take for an extraordinary congress.
'Our fans will open the main doors.'"
