In the UEFA Champions League 4th week match, Benfica, coached by Jose Mourinho, hosted Bayer Leverkusen. The match played in Portugal ended with a 1-0 victory for the visiting team.
LEVERKUSEN WON WITH A SINGLE GOAL
The only goal of the match came from the German side's star player, Patrik Schick. Schick put his team ahead with his goal in the 65th minute, and the score did not change for the remainder of the match.
STILL NO POINTS
With this defeat, Jose Mourinho has left his third Champions League match at the helm of Benfica without any points. While the home team has yet to earn a point in the group stage, Bayer Leverkusen increased their points tally to 5 with this victory. In the next week of the tournament, Benfica will play away against Ajax. Bayer Leverkusen will be the guest of Manchester City.
HE HAD SAID "I RETURNED TO MY LEVEL"...
In a statement he made last month, Mourinho said that going to Fenerbahçe was a mistake for him, stating, "I made the wrong choice, but I don't regret it. I gave everything I could until the last day. By coming to Benfica, I returned to my level. Because my level is managing the biggest clubs in the world."
