He was battling cancer: Young İstanbulspor footballer Baran Alp Vardar has passed away

The İstanbulspor community is in deep mourning following the passing of young footballer Baran Alp Vardar. Vardar, who played in the Trendyol 1st League and had been receiving treatment for cancer for some time, has left his family, teammates, and all football fans in deep sorrow.

 

The club released the following statement:

“We are in great pain and deep sorrow. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our footballer, our dear Baran Alp Vardar, who had been receiving cancer treatment for some time.

Baran Alp, whom we will always remember for his character, his dedication to his teammates, and his smiling face, will always live on in the heart of our community. His departure from among us so early has deeply wounded us all.

We pray for God's mercy upon our late footballer Baran Alp Vardar, and we extend our patience and condolences to his precious family, his loved ones, his teammates, and our community.

May you rest in peace, Baran Alp… We will never forget you.

The funeral of our dear Baran Alp will be held following the noon prayer at the Mevlana Mosque in Beylikdüzü on Sunday, March 15, 2026 (today)."

The yellow-and-black club announced that Baran Alp Vardar will be laid to rest at the Güzelce Cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held today at the Mevlana Mosque in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul.
