İlhan Palut: 'These are not acceptable goals'
Çaykur Rizespor manager İlhan Palut spoke after the Fenerbahçe match. Palut stated, 'These are not acceptable goals.'
Çaykur Rizespor manager İlhan Palut spoke following the 3-1 loss to Fenerbahçe.
İlhan Palut said, "Players from both teams competed under very difficult conditions. It wasn't easy. Therefore, they deserve to be congratulated. In the first half, things went as we wanted. We didn't give the opponent any chances. We managed to turn the balls we won into passes quite often. Perhaps we could have increased the score while we had the opponent in that position. It ended 1-0. Looking at the second half, the opponent switched to two strikers. It was likely that it would be a half with many direct balls. There were moments where we could have turned our midfield superiority into an advantage. We conceded goals very early. We conceded very poor goals from balls we had in our possession. It's a classic. We conceded bad goals. We gained some expensive experience. Wrong choices, risks that shouldn't be taken on this pitch. It cost us dearly. We lost a match where we were not inferior in terms of play. Aside from this match, there is a period that has been going poorly. There have been bad results for 3-4 matches. We need to recover immediately, we must not break. We must continue. Players from both teams fought, there is nothing else to say."
Continuing his remarks, İlhan Palut commented, "Serdar's goal was a turning point. Actually, in the process after that, until we conceded the second goal, we didn't experience any trouble on the pitch. Maybe we said 'what is happening,' but we didn't experience a situation where Fenerbahçe pressured us or created consecutive chances. We had a simple turnover for the second goal. The way the ball went into the net was also not very acceptable, let me put it that way. For the 3rd goal, we had sent all our men forward. Well, learning is sometimes expensive. We struggled to show belief in the match. We lost 3-1. When you look at the big picture, considering the result of this match and the effort put in, it shouldn't have been this way. Turning points are important in football, and many of them worked against us."
