Former Manchester City captain Ilkay Gündoğan has returned to the team.

In a statement made by City, it was stated that a 1-year contract was signed with Ilkay Gündoğan.

Gündoğan had transferred from Manchester City to Barcelona on a free transfer last year.

ILKAY GÜNDOĞAN'S CAREER

Ilkay Gündoğan left the German team Dortmund in 2016 and signed with Manchester City, where he won five Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League trophy.

The experienced player joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023 after winning both the Premier League and the Champions League in the same season. The 33-year-old player proved himself as an important member of Xavi's team, appearing in 51 matches for his team last season and delivering an effective performance with 5 goals and 14 assists. 

On the other hand, Ilkay Gündoğan recently announced that he has ended his Germany national team career. In a statement he made on social media, the experienced footballer said, "After thinking about it for a few weeks, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to end my national team career. I would like to thank the fans, coaches, and teammates who accompanied me on this journey."
