Infantino responds to UEFA's request for documents

FIFA President Gianni Infantino argued that he has broad support in world football ahead of the upcoming presidential election. While in Azerbaijan for the Under-15 World Cup, Infantino made assessments regarding the ongoing discussions surrounding the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project and UEFA's request for documents.

Speaking to the BBC, Infantino laughed off a question about whether he was considering resigning following the FFE process. Regarding recent calls for his resignation, he reminded that he was elected to the FIFA presidency by 211 member federations.

Stating that differing opinions are natural in football governance, Infantino said, "There is nothing wrong with disagreement. We see this every day in many countries around the world. It is not a problem to have disagreements or to hold different views, but we need to be able to move forward afterward."

Infantino said that the Asian Football Confederation has given him full support and that he is in contact with African countries. Noting that he had just returned from Tokyo, the FIFA President stated that he has been meeting with all federations and that the decision will ultimately be made by the member federations.

Expressing that more frequent dialogue should be established in relations with UEFA, Infantino did not provide a clear date for when the documents requested by UEFA would be shared. Stating that the documents are subject to a legal process, Infantino said they are working on the matter.

Last week, UEFA requested that critical documents regarding the FFE be shared by November 2. UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis had also announced that FIFA had left "a series of fundamental questions" unanswered.

Candidacy applications for the FIFA presidential election to be held in March 2027 will close on November 18. Gianni Infantino has been serving as FIFA president since 2016.
