Is Formula 1 returning to Turkey? TOSFED president explains

Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) President Eren Üçlertoprağı stated that they have held consultations with International Automobile Federation (FIA) President Mohammed Ben Sulayem regarding the possibility of hosting Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship in Turkey once again.

The statement from TOSFED recalled that Ben Sulayem visited Marmaris for a series of meetings, hosted by TOSFED honorary president Serkan Yazıcı and president Eren Üçlertoprağı.

It was emphasized that the consultation meetings between the senior management of TOSFED and the FIA, as well as the reception of Ben Sulayem by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, represent a very important step for the development and future of motorsports in Turkey.

In his assessment of the visit, Üçlertoprağı said, "The visit to our country at the presidential level by the FIA, in whose board of directors we have served for a long time, and the fact that our President received the FIA President, was a development that honored us all. We found the meetings to be extremely productive, which we see as a step reflecting both the development curve of motorsports in our country and the importance the FIA attaches to Turkey. We held consultations with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who has always appreciated the organizational capacity of our country and our federation, to bring the world's leading championships, Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship, back to our country. We express our gratitude to our President, who has always supported motorsports and our federation, for his favor, and we continue to work full throttle for the continued development of motorsports in our country and the promotion of Turkey through sports tourism."
