İsmail Kartal: Talisca was very tired

Speaking at the press conference held after the match played at the Zabrze Arena, Kartal stated that they could not reflect the game they wanted on the pitch in the first half.

Expressing that they started the second half very well with tactical adjustments, Kartal said, "Unfortunately, we could not play as we wanted in the first half. We started the second half very well with our moves and found opportunities.

It is not easy to play these types of matches in European cups. Our opponent was well-prepared and never gave up on the match. It was a good match for both teams, there were chances. We will draw lessons from this regarding what we lacked and what we did well. We are a team that continues to develop. We advanced, and I am happy about that," he said.

Emphasizing that they missed very clear chances, İsmail Kartal assessed, "If we had scored the second goal, we might not have given the opponent hope. I congratulate the opponent in this regard; they did not give up on the match at any moment. We are aware of our shortcomings. Our opponent was very hungry; they applied the pressure on us that we intended to apply to them. We could not put on the performance we wanted in the first half, but we played with a lot of pressure in the second half. From time to time, the opponent came at us. After our tactical changes, we also faced pressure."

Stating that both Oosterwolde and Nathan Ake can play as left-back and center-back, Kartal explained that he utilized Ake as a center-back due to his experience and foot technique.

Explaining that they have worked well on set-pieces, Kartal concluded his words as follows:

"We are giving great importance to set-pieces this year. Both in defense and attack. We have to work; this is our job. We are already doing whatever is necessary for the team's development. We could not hold the ball enough in attack in the first half. With İsmail entering the midfield, we became tougher there and were able to hold the ball more in the second half. Anderson Talisca was very tired and reached a point where he could not hold the ball. The opponent came at us and risked the game. We made substitutions to score the second and third goals with quick players, dribbling, and runs behind the defense. We are a team that likes to pass and wants to keep the ball. Because we could not hold the ball as we wanted, we could not change the direction of the game and could not make the opponent run."
