Nicolo Zaniolo, who plays for Aston Villa, has returned to the Italian national team.
Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti included the 24-year-old footballer in the squad for the matches against North Macedonia and Ukraine.
Zaniolo had been removed from the Italian national team squad last month after a betting investigation was launched against him.
In his statement to the prosecutor's office following the betting investigation, Zaniolo had stated that he did not bet on football matches and only played card games.
According to reports in the Italian press, it was stated that it was not proven that Zaniolo bet on football matches, and for this reason, he was taken back into the national team squad by head coach Luciano Spalletti.
It was stated that Zaniolo is expected to receive only a fine due to the card games.
Juventus player Nicolo Fagioli received a 7-month ban, while Newcastle United player Sandro Tonali received a 10-month ban from football due to betting.
