Mali failed to convert a penalty with Adama Traore in the 17th minute.
In the Ivory Coast squad, Kossonou Odilon received a red card in the 43rd minute, and Oumar Diakite was sent off in the 120+3rd minute.
Galatasaray's new signing Serge Aurier and Trabzonspor's Nicolas Pepe played for 45 minutes for Ivory Coast. Max Gradel was substituted in the 73rd minute.
Following this result, Ivory Coast has advanced to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, while Mali has been eliminated from the tournament.
