Japan secures spot in 2026 World Cup
Japan has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first team to secure its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Competing in Group C of the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers Third Round, Japan hosted Bahrain in its 7th match. The home team left the pitch with a 2-0 victory in the match played at Saitama Stadium.
The goals that brought victory to Japan were scored by Wataru Endo in the 9th minute and Takefusa Kubo in the 87th minute.
With this result, Japan increased its points to 19 and mathematically secured its participation in the 2026 World Cup with 3 matches remaining in Group C. The tournament will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
