Jorge Jesus' Al Hilal makes history
Al Hilal, the Saudi Arabian team managed by former Fenerbahçe head coach Jorge Jesus, has become the team with the longest winning streak in football history after winning its 28th consecutive match. The previous record belonged to the Welsh club The New Saints, which achieved 27 consecutive wins in the 2016-2017 season.
Al Hilal, managed by former Fenerbahçe coach and Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, faced Al Ittihad away in the second leg of the AFC Champions League quarter-finals, having won the first leg 2-0.
Winning the match 2-0, Al Hilal advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament, where they were paired with Al Ain.
By securing their 28th consecutive victory across all competitions, the Saudi Arabian representative has become the new record holder in this category.
The previous record of 27 wins belonged to the Welsh club The New Saints.
