Konyaspor President Korkmaz speaks on Abdülkerim transfer: 'There is no problem between us and Galatasaray'
Ömer Korkmaz, president of the Süper Lig side Konyaspor, responded to allegations regarding the transfer process of Abdülkerim Bardakçı to Galatasaray that have surfaced in recent days.
Süper Lig side Konyaspor President Ömer Korkmaz made exclusive statements to the Spor Kazanı program on Radyospor.
"We have no problem with Galatasaray"
Addressing the claims that they were owed money from Galatasaray for the Abdülkerim Bardakçı transfer, Korkmaz stated, "We do not have a problem with the Galatasaray club. We mentioned that 'we have a receivable' following a spontaneous question. The 250 thousand Euro Championship Bonus has been paid by Galatasaray. We have no issues with Galatasaray," he said.
"We would like to see Umut Nayir and Umut Bozok in our team"
Touching upon the search for reinforcements in the forward rotation, Korkmaz commented on some players linked to the team: "The areas we need are clear. We are looking at what kind of player we want for all positions. We have given the public an image of struggling in the attacking department. We seem to have a problem in that area. We would like to see Umut Nayir and Umut Bozok in our team, but there is no official situation. I do not want to make any statement before it becomes official. We also have to keep our alternatives tight. Because the points ranking we are in is not a position Konyaspor is accustomed to," he said.
"There is a special clause in Calvo's contract"
Explaining the situation of center-back Francisco Calvo, who is rumored to be leaving the team, the Konyaspor President said, "There was such a clause in Francisco Calvo's contract, and we are in talks with him. There is no problem right now. If he has no injury, he will be in the squad for the Fenerbahçe match. Calvo has special circumstances; he explained them to us, and we understood. We want to continue with a group of players who are happy in the city and at the training facilities. We want to continue with those who want to stay. Of course, we have held talks with Calvo. We have offered a renewal if he is happy. Our talks with Calvo are ongoing. If he is happy, we would like him to stay," he stated.
We have no interest in the Trabzonspor star
Regarding the allegations that they are interested in the Greek midfielder Kourbelis from Trabzonspor, Korkmaz noted, "We have not made an offer for Kourbelis. We do not have a plan to part ways with Bruno Paz and Sokol Cikaleshi. No offers have come for them either. We do not insist that players stay if it is not in the interest of both parties," he recorded.
"The last coach to defeat Galatasaray at their home"
Stating that they are satisfied with head coach Hakan Keleş, Ömer Korkmaz said, "Coach Hakan is someone who does his job well. He practically lives at the training facilities. He is the last coach to defeat Galatasaray away from home. His house is close to here, but he stays at the facilities. Coach Hakan's communication is also very good. He is in good spirits, and we are continuing our path with our coach; we have no problems," he said.
