Konyaspor President Ömer Korkmaz on the 'championship match': 'Galatasaray beat us well'
Konyaspor President Ömer Korkmaz made notable remarks regarding the match they lost 3-1 to Galatasaray on their home turf. Korkmaz stated, "If Konyaspor had needed to win its final match to stay in the league, it would have beaten any team here in front of 40,000 people, except for the two teams in the championship race."
Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at a hotel, Konyaspor President Ömer Korkmaz made assessments regarding Galatasaray's 3-1 victory over Konyaspor on the final matchday, which secured their 24th league title.
Korkmaz stated the following in his speech:
"Galatasaray beat Konyaspor here. In fact, they beat us well; they didn't even let us play. The Galatasaray community was provoked throughout the entire week. People said this match would go this way or that way, but my faith in Turkish football has increased slightly; everyone went out and tried to do something. If Konyaspor had needed to win its final match to stay in the league, it would have beaten any team here in front of 40,000 people, except for the two teams in the championship race."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Konyaspor guaranteed its place in the league after Trabzonspor defeated Ankaragücü 4-2.
