16-year-old Kuzey Tunçelli, the first Turkish athlete to reach a final in the swimming discipline in Olympic history, competed in the men's 1500-meter freestyle final held at the Paris La Defense Arena.
The young national swimmer completed the final race with a time of 14:41.22, finishing the Olympic Games in 5th place.
Kuzey Tunçelli, the youngest athlete in Turkey's Olympic delegation, achieved the best time of his career.
BOBBY FINKE BROKE THE WORLD RECORD
In this category, American swimmer Bobby Finke won the gold medal by breaking the world and Olympic record.
Finishing the race with a time of 14:30.67, the American swimmer became the new holder of the world and Olympic record previously held by Chinese swimmer Yang Sun with 14:31.02.
Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri won the silver medal with a time of 14:34.55, and Irish swimmer Daniel Wiffen took the bronze medal with 14:39.63.
