Last chance for Halil Umut Meler: He could be removed from his post
FIFA-badged referee Halil Umut Meler failed the physical fitness test just days before the start of the Süper Lig.
Halil Umut Meler, Turkey's only elite referee, is at a critical threshold shortly before the start of the new season in the Süper Lig.
Central Referee Board (MHK) President Ferhat Gündoğdu stated in an interview on Ekol TV that Halil Umut Meler has not yet passed the physical fitness test.
In his statement regarding the matter, Gündoğdu said, "Halil Umut Meler could not run in last week's test. He stopped at the 36th lap. There is one more chance on Thursday; we believe he will run it."
HE COULD BE REMOVED FROM HIS POST
On the other hand, Ferhat Gündoğdu conveyed that if Halil Umut Meler fails tomorrow's physical fitness test as well, he will not be able to continue his duties.
