Lionel Messi announces his retirement from the Argentina national team
Star footballer Messi, who reached the final with his country in the 2026 FIFA World Cup but lost the trophy to Spain, has announced that he is ending his national team career.
Announcing this decision on his social media account, the star stated,
"This is a decision that deeply saddens me, but I believe it is the right moment.
I gave everything for Argentina.
There is little time left for my career as well.
This is another issue that hurts me.
I love you all" he said.
The superstar had become champion with Argentina by defeating France on penalties in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
