Manchester City's opponent has been determined
In the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, Urawa Red Diamonds has become Manchester City's opponent in the semi-finals.
In the second round match of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, hosted by Saudi Arabia, Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan) defeated Leon (Mexico) 1-0 to advance to the semi-finals.
The only goal of the second-round match in the tournament, which features the champions of the 6 confederations affiliated with FIFA and the host nation's league champion, was scored by Alex Schalk in the 78th minute. William Tesillo of Leon received a red card in the 84th minute.
Following this result, Urawa Red Diamonds became the opponent of Manchester City in the semi-finals.
The 20th edition of the tournament is being hosted at the King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadiums in the city of Jeddah.
The tournament includes Al-Ittihad, Auckland City, and Al-Ahly, as well as Manchester City (England), Fluminense (Brazil), Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan), and Leon (Mexico).
Among the teams starting the tournament from the semi-final stage, Fluminense will play its first match on Monday, December 18, and Manchester City will play on Tuesday, December 19.
