Manchester United's stadium renovation plan to contribute 7.3 billion pounds to the UK economy

Manchester United plans to regenerate the Trafford Park area. According to a report by the world-renowned consultancy firm Oxford Economics, the project, which includes the construction of a new 100,000-seat stadium, could contribute 7.3 billion pounds annually to the British economy.

The Oxford Economics study highlights the potential benefits of the development plan. The project could create 92,000 jobs, over 17,000 new homes, and bring in 1.8 million new visitors each year.

According to a report by The Athletic, the renovation plan is not limited to the stadium. It also aims to transform the Trafford Wharfside area into a hub for sports, housing, entertainment, and business. The initial designs were unveiled on Monday at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.

In April, United appointed a task force to evaluate options for the future of Old Trafford Stadium. The options were either to redevelop the existing facility or to build a brand-new stadium from scratch.

The architectural firm Foster and Partners has been commissioned for the master plan of the stadium area. The focus is on utilizing the land for the benefit of the community. However, the design of the stadium itself will be decided through a separate process based on the final recommendations to be presented by the task force towards the end of this year.

The Athletic reported in early September that the Old Trafford task force would submit its recommendation regarding the future of the stadium by the end of December.

According to an internal document obtained by The Athletic, the deadline for the report containing the task force's final recommendations on the project is December 31.
