Maradona's former doctor makes a confession years later

Mario Alejandro Schiter, the doctor of Argentine footballer Diego Maradona, stated that the footballer should have been admitted to a rehabilitation center following his surgery in 2020. Schiter, who served as Maradona's health consultant for many years, testified in the trial where 7 members of the footballer's medical team are being tried on charges of 'negligence'.

Arguing that it was not appropriate for Maradona to be treated at home following his 2020 surgical operation, Schiter stated that the footballer should have been transferred to a rehabilitation clinic. Noting that it was his doctors who decided on home treatment for Maradona, he stated that the findings in the footballer's autopsy pointed to 'inadequate treatment'.

Other individuals testifying at the hearing emphasized that the house where Maradona was sent after his surgery lacked the necessary medical equipment.

Maradona's ex-partner Veronica Ojeda expressed her reaction at the hearing, saying, 'They lied to the whole family, it's a great shame,' after the footballer was sent home for treatment. Ojeda alleged that Maradona was not cared for sufficiently during the home treatment process and that when she visited him before his death, only his bodyguard was present in the house.

MARADONA'S DEATH

Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, in the city of Tigre, in Argentina's Buenos Aires province, due to 'acute pulmonary edema resulting from chronic heart failure.' Within the scope of the investigation launched after his death, 7 people, including Maradona's neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and his psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, were accused of causing the footballer's death.
