In the 1987 World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) championship match held in Las Vegas, Tyson secured his 30th victory with a knockout in the sixth round. Yet, behind this victory lies his admiration for Thomas's durability.

Tyson emphasized Thomas's resilience by saying, 'I hit him 17 times without thinking, each one straight and hard. Then he fell. My God, that was my toughest fight.'

Pinklon Thomas, who began his professional boxing career in 1978, achieved 43 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw. Thomas, who was the World Boxing Council champion between 1984 and 1986, faced major struggles in his personal life alongside his successes in the ring. Having fallen into heroin addiction at a young age, Thomas admitted that he started using substances at age 12 and had been an addict since he was 14. Today, he states that he has been clean for nearly 40 years.
