Milan Skriniar: I chose Fenerbahçe and I see how right I was in my decision

Milan Skriniar, who joined Fenerbahçe during the winter transfer window, made statements to the club's television channel. The successful defender, who played his first official match in a Fenerbahçe jersey against Çaykur Rizespor and noted that he was very impressed by the atmosphere created by the fans, said he would fight to do his best.

Regarding the atmosphere at yesterday's match and the support of the fans, Skriniar said, "There was a truly wonderful atmosphere. Even in the first match I watched from the stands, I clearly saw the support the fans showed and the chants they made. Yesterday, I felt the support of our fans throughout the 90 minutes. They created a great atmosphere. We felt their support on the pitch immensely. They helped us a lot on the path to victory. Therefore, we are grateful to them. I hope we will continue with their support."

"I KNOW I WILL BE MUCH BETTER"

Regarding his performance against Çaykur Rizespor, the Slovak footballer assessed, "I am someone who always tries to do his best and put forth my best effort. Yes, I scored a goal, but it was an unfortunate moment; I was caught offside there. However, I am not here at Fenerbahçe to score goals, but to defend. As I said, I am trying to do my best and help the team. I haven't played football for two and a half months. Therefore, there are points I need to improve and work on for myself, but I know I will be much better in time."

Sharing information about the transfer process, Skriniar said, "Actually, there were other options and offers. I would like to express my gratitude to our President and our Sporting Director through you here. They were very clear from the first moment they contacted me. So, I really liked that. I appreciated it because this is not a normal situation in the football industry. Therefore, I liked that they were clear. I chose this place and I see how right I was in the decision I made. I am very happy to be here. Before the transfer, I had a conversation with our coach, Edin Dzeko, and our Sporting Director. In my opinion, I made a fantastic and great decision by joining Fenerbahçe. I am really happy to be here. Now, what falls to me is to help my team and give my best as long as I am on the field."

When asked about his thoughts on Edin Dzeko, Skriniar said, "I played with Edin Dzeko for two years. I know him well and he is a wonderful person. He is a very good person off the pitch. We are very good friends. I love him very much. There is not much need for me to comment on him as a player because he is a great player. He is a player with the potential to do anything at any moment on the pitch. In my opinion, he is currently one of the best strikers in the world. Everyone already knows what kind of footballer he is and what kind of playing style he has. He is also a wonderful person in terms of personality. I can say that I love him."

Adding that Edin Dzeko could continue playing football for many years, Milan Skriniar stated, "He could continue playing football until he is 50. He is 38 now, but to me, he is like he is 25. He is truly a magnificent professional. If he continues like this, I hope he will continue until even older ages."

"WHAT MATTERS MOST TO MY FAMILY IS THAT I AM HAPPY"

Regarding his family's support during the transfer process, Skriniar said, "I have been with my wife for 12 years, and of course, we have children. They always respect and support me. They certainly respected the decision I made. They are very happy about this transfer and that I am here. At the same time, my father, mother, and brother are also very happy that I am here. They can also see how incredible the support our fans show us is. What matters most to my family is that I am happy, so everything is going well right now."

Skriniar said the following regarding the support messages from the yellow-navy fans:

"Our fans are still continuing to send messages to me and my family members. Of course, when you are on the other side of the world, you might not feel this love, but after coming here, you feel it more clearly. When they see that I am happy, my family is naturally happy too, and they feel this love that our fans have shown me."

Calling out to the fans, the 29-year-old defender concluded his words by saying, "I really want to express my gratitude to our fans for the wonderful support they have shown. We feel their support immensely every match, every day. We are continuing on three fronts, and as Fenerbahçe, we naturally want to go as far as possible.
