Missing player crisis at Ankaragücü

A notable development has occurred at TFF 1. Lig side Ankaragücü.

Claims that the yellow-navy team's Jamaican footballer Renaldo Cephas could not be reached at all have caused a major stir in the football community.

The missing player was among the names included in the squad for the match where Ankaragücü started the season with a 2-0 victory over Şanlıurfaspor.

Despite being unable to reach the player, the Ankaragücü management included him in the 21-man match squad against Şanlıurfaspor. However, the Jamaican footballer did not attend training, nor did he show up for the match.

Ankaragücü head coach Cihat Arslan made statements regarding the issue after the Şanlıurfaspor match: "We included him in the squad to have a notary record that he did not show up. He is not coming to training, and he did not come to the match. We do not know where he is," he said.

Following the statements from the yellow-navy team's manager, the claim that he had "gone missing" caused a major stir on social media.

Cephas, who has not been attending training and did not come to the stadium despite being in the match squad, clarified the claims that he had gone missing with a post on his social media account.

Cephas shared a photo from the gym and added the note "Stay positive."

A statement also came from Ankaragücü regarding the claims that the footballer had gone missing. The statement said, "The reports appearing on social media and in some press outlets that our professional footballer Renaldo Cephas has gone missing are unfounded."

'I AM FINE, I AM AT HOME'

Speaking to Haber Global afterward, Cephas stated, "I am fine, I am at home." He did not answer the question regarding why he was not attending training.

It has been alleged that the Jamaican footballer is in talks with other clubs despite his contract still being in effect. The Ankaragücü management is expected to terminate his contract.
