Monaco pulls off a surprise victory against Barcelona

The first week of the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League season concluded with 6 matches played.

In the first matches of the day at 19:45, German side Bayer Leverkusen defeated Dutch team Feyenoord 4-0 away from home.

In the other match, Portuguese side Benfica beat Serbian representatives Red Star Belgrade 2-1 away. The goals that secured the victory for Benfica were scored by national team players Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Orkun Kökçü.

MONACO DEFEATS SPANISH GIANTS BARCELONA

French side Monaco defeated Spanish giants Barcelona 2-1 at home, marking the surprise of the day. The goals that carried the red-and-whites to victory came from Maghnes Akliouche in the 16th minute and George Ilenikhena in the 71st minute.

Barcelona's only goal was scored by Lamine Yamal in the 28th minute. For the Catalan side, Eric Garcia was sent off with a red card in the 10th minute.

In other important matches of the night, Atletico Madrid beat visiting Leipzig 2-1, while Arsenal drew 0-0 away against Atalanta.
