Montella's compensation revealed
As Montella's future is being debated, the cost the TFF would face in a potential termination following the defeat to Italy has also come to the agenda. It has been stated that compensation exceeding 5 million Euros could be paid for the Italian manager, whose contract runs until EURO 2028.
The future of A National Football Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella has become a subject of debate once again following the 4-1 defeat against Italy. However, it is noted that parting ways with the Italian manager could result in a significant cost for the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
It has been stated that Montella's contract continues until July 31, 2028, and therefore, in the event of a potential termination, compensation exceeding 5 million Euros might need to be paid based on the remaining duration and salary calculations.
According to contract details, it was noted that Montella's annual salary is 2.2 million Euros. It was reported that the salary, which was previously 1.8 million Euros, was increased with a new agreement made in 2025. The contract is said to have been extended until the end of EURO 2028.
Following the Italy match, while chants of "Give us a villa, give us a villa, Hacıosmanoğlu, give us a villa" were directed at TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu from the stands, Montella was also asked whether he would be at the helm of the team for the return leg.
It was reported that Montella responded with laughter to a Mediaset reporter's question, "Will you be in Bologna?" The A National Team is expected to play the return match against Italy in Bologna on October 5.
According to the information provided regarding the contract, no compensation will be paid if Montella resigns of his own volition. However, if the TFF makes a unilateral decision to terminate, a high compensation item will come to the agenda.
