Morocco becomes the first quarter-finalist of the World Cup
In the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, Morocco defeated Canada 3-0 to become the first team to advance to the quarter-finals.
In the FIFA 2026 World Cup Round of 16 match, Canada and Morocco faced off at NRG Stadium in Houston.
The first half of the match, officiated by English referee Michael Oliver, ended goalless.

In the 50th minute, Azzedine Ounahi met a pass from Hakimi and fired a powerful low shot from outside the penalty area into the net, giving Morocco a 1-0 lead.

Azzedine Ounahi stepped up once again in the 82nd minute to double the lead. Soufiane Rahimi had the final say in the 90+8th minute, securing Morocco's place in the quarter-finals.

Mohamed Ouahbi's side will face the winner of the France vs. Paraguay match in the quarter-finals.
