Moving tribute to Atsu from Volkan Demirel: 'The last gift he left behind'
Hatayspor manager Volkan Demirel remembered Christian Atsu, who lost his life in the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
Exactly one year has passed since the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
On the anniversary of the earthquake that plunged Turkey into mourning, Hatayspor manager Volkan Demirel shared a tribute to his former player Christian Atsu, who lost his life after being trapped under the rubble.
Volkan Demirel said the following about Christian Atsu:
"This goal scored by Atsu is the last gift he left behind. This goal, which came just before the earthquake, represents pure happiness and hope. But the earthquake that followed took Atsu, our coach Taner, and many of our loved ones from us. Now, a year has passed since they left us, and since the great pain experienced by Hatay and our 10 provinces. We remember them with great love and mercy."
HE HAD BROUGHT HATAYSPOR 3 POINTS HOURS BEFORE THE EARTHQUAKE
Christian Atsu had scored the goal that brought victory to his team in the Hatayspor – Kasımpaşa match just hours before the earthquake.
