Following Fernando Muslera's farewell to his Galatasaray career, his announcement that he would not be retiring from football has increased curiosity regarding his new destination. The most serious claim for the experienced goalkeeper has come from his homeland, Uruguay.

Edgardo Novic, an executive at Penarol, one of Uruguay's most established clubs, has officially announced their interest in Muslera. In a statement to El Espectador Deportes, Novic noted that Head Coach Diego Aguirre wants to see Muslera in the squad.

In his statement, Novic said, "We held a meeting with Diego Aguirre about Muslera last Monday. He told us, 'I really want him to come.'"

Penarol Head Coach Diego Aguirre, meanwhile, left questions from the press about Muslera unanswered following the Velez match. Aguirre stated that it would not be right to speak based on transfer speculations and closed the subject.
