The house in Bulgaria where the late national weightlifter Naim Süleymanoğlu, an Olympic, world, and European champion who wrote his name in golden letters in world and Turkish weightlifting history, spent his childhood is being turned into a museum.

According to a statement from the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, the house where Süleymanoğlu lived as a child in the city of Momchilgrad, Bulgaria, will be converted into a museum by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The meeting for the museum, which is planned to open in April 2024, was attended by TİKA Vice President Dr. Mehmet Çevik, Turkish Weightlifting Federation President Talat Ünlü, federation officials, Naim Süleymanoğlu's brother Muharrem Süleymanoğlu, and world champion national athlete Fedail Güler.

The legendary athlete Naim Süleymanoğlu, who won Olympic gold medals three times in a row (1988, 1992, 1996), passed away on November 18, 2017, at the age of 50.
