The Turkish Athletics Federation has issued a statement condemning the attack on national athlete Tutku Yılmaz and her mother, Aysun Yılmaz, in Mersin.
According to information provided by the federation, national athlete Tutku Yılmaz and her mother, Aysun Yılmaz, were subjected to a verbal and physical attack by an individual in traffic, involving insults, threats, and hateful language. It was stated that legal proceedings have been initiated following this incident and that they will follow the case closely.
"WE WILL FOLLOW THE CASE"
The federation's statement included the following: "Our national athlete Tutku Yılmaz and her mother, Aysun Yılmaz, were assaulted in Mersin by a road bully who used profanity, insults, threats, and hate speech, and attempted a physical attack.
We hereby announce to the public that we will follow the legal process initiated against the road bully who carried out this ugly attack on our national athlete Tutku Yılmaz and her mother, Aysun Yılmaz."
Additionally, the statement included a message from the President of the Turkish Athletics Federation, Fatih Çintimar: "I strongly condemn the road bully who insulted and assaulted our national athlete, Fenerbahçe Sports Club athlete Tutku Yılmaz, who is preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and her mother, Aysun Yılmaz. We announce to the public that we will follow all legal proceedings regarding this matter."
