Elis Özbay, the first Turkish female national rower to compete in the Olympics, participated in the repechage round at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The national rower competed in the single sculls heats at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
Elis Özbay, who finished 4th in her heat with a time of 7:57.06, earned the right to compete in the repechage round to advance to the quarterfinals.
Racing against Singapore's Saiyidah Aisy Binte Mohamed Rafaee, Iran's Fatemeh Mojallaltopraghghale, and Algeria's Nihed Benchadli in the repechage, Elis finished second behind her Iranian opponent and advanced to the quarterfinals.
Fenerbahçe Sports Club athlete Elis Özbay had previously been a two-time European champion and a two-time World champion.
