National Team starts Euro 2024 with a victory against Georgia

The Turkish National Football Team faced Georgia in their first match of the 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024). The National Team secured a victory in their opening match of the tournament with goals from Mert Müldür, Arda Güler, and Kerem Aktürkoğlu.

National Team starts Euro 2024 with a victory against Georgia

The National Team started the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) with a victory, defeating Georgia 3-1 in their first Group F match.

Turkey has started a European Championship with points and a win for the first time in its 6th appearance. The Crescent-Stars, who had lost their opening matches in all 5 of their previous European Championship appearances, have achieved their first opening win and points.

The goals that brought victory to the Crescent-Stars were scored by Mert Müldür, Arda Güler, and Kerem Aktürkoğlu.

In their previous opening matches, Turkey lost 1-0 to Croatia in EURO 96, 2-1 to Italy in EURO 2000, 2-0 to Portugal in EURO 2008, 1-0 to Croatia in EURO 2016, and 3-0 to Italy in EURO 2020.

ARDA GÜLER MAKES HISTORY

Arda Güler, who scored the goal that put the national team ahead against Georgia, broke the record for the youngest player to score in their debut match in European Championship history at 19 years and 114 days old.

Previously, this record belonged to Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo at 19 years and 128 days.

Arda Güler has found the net for the 2nd time in his 9th appearance for the National Team. Arda scored his first goal in the match played in Samsun against Wales.

Arda also earned the title of the youngest player to score for Turkey in the European Championship. Arda was replaced by Yusuf Yazıcı in the 79th minute of the match.

Meanwhile, Arda Güler was also named player of the match.

THE NATIONAL TEAM'S FIRST GOAL FROM MERT MÜLDÜR

The National Football Team's first goal in EURO 2024 came from Mert Müldür.

In the 25th minute of the match, Mert struck a beautiful goal from the edge of the penalty area after the ball deflected off the Georgian defense.

Mert Müldür celebrated his 2nd goal in his 25th appearance for the National Team. Mert scored his first goal against Gibraltar.

FERDİ KADIOĞLU STAYED ON THE PITCH FOR 90 MINUTES

National Football Team left-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who started in the first 11 against Georgia, remained on the pitch for 90 minutes.

Ferdi, who could not play in the national team's matches against Italy and Poland due to injury, completed the match against Georgia.

SALİH ÖZCAN PLAYS IN DORTMUND

Salih Özcan, who plays for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, found an opportunity to play in the final part of the game at his club's stadium.

Salih, who was among the substitutes, entered the game in the 90+1st minute, replacing Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

GREAT SUPPORT FOR THE NATIONAL TEAM IN GERMANY

Turkish fans gave great support to the National Football Team in their first match of EURO 2024. Approximately 50,000 Turkish fans were present at the 62,000-capacity BVB Dortmund Stadium.

The fans supported the national players with chants throughout the 90 minutes.
