National tennis player Cem İlkel has reached the first ATP quarterfinal of his career by defeating Max Purcell 2-1 in the second round of the Sofia Open, an ATP 250 tournament held in Bulgaria.
According to the statement made by the Turkish Tennis Federation, Cem İlkel, who participated in the ATP 250 tournament Sofia Open with a wild card, reached the first ATP quarterfinal of his career by defeating the tournament's 6th seed, Max Purcell, with sets of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the second round.
Cem, who won the match that lasted 2 hours and 6 minutes, also achieved his first top 50 victory with this win.
Cem İlkel, who became the third Turkish player to reach a quarterfinal at the ATP level, will face the winner of the match between the tournament's 1st seed, Lorenzo Musetti, and Jack Draper in the quarterfinals.
