New appeal in the Aziz Yıldırım-Acun Ilıcalı luxury box crisis

The legal process between the Fenerbahçe management and former board member Acun Ilıcalı regarding a luxury box continues. Following the court's previous rejection, the yellow-navy management has now applied to the Regional Court of Justice, requesting that the decision be overturned.

The club management had applied to the primary court for a second time on Friday, September 4; however, the court rejected the request regarding the luxury box once again. Following this, it was stated that a new step was taken on Tuesday, September 8, and an application was made to the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice, despite the case file being closed.

PROCEDURAL EXPLANATION FROM THE LAWYER

Acun Ilıcalı's lawyer, Hakan Öncel, stated in his remarks on the matter that the preliminary injunction regarding the luxury box was issued definitively in the file numbered E.2026/1486 of the 18th Civil Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice.

Öncel stated that a lawsuit regarding the merits of the dispute was filed on September 2, 2026, with the file numbered E.2026/572 at the Anadolu 10th Consumer Court, and that after this stage, the injunction decision fell under the jurisdiction and supervision of the court handling the main case.

Noting that the Anadolu 10th Consumer Court rejected Fenerbahçe Sports Club's requests for the removal of the preliminary injunction with an interim decision dated September 4, 2026, Öncel reported that it was decided for the injunction to remain in effect.

Öncel argued that after the main lawsuit is filed, requests for the removal, modification, or continuation of a preliminary injunction can only be examined by the court handling the main case. Stating that Fenerbahçe's attorneys submitted a petition to the closed appellate file on September 8, Öncel said that this application was "clearly contrary to procedure."
