National athlete Şahika Ercümen broke the 105-meter world record in the constant weight without fins category, reaching 106 meters in a trial she performed in Hatay dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
Şahika Ercümen completed her rigorous training for the record attempt organized with the slogan "Be a breath for Hatay" to raise awareness in the earthquake zone.
Entering the water off the coast of Karamağara Bay in the Yayladağı district, the athlete surpassed the 105-meter world record held by Serbian-born Lena Balta in the constant weight without fins category with her 106-meter performance.
