No winner in six-goal thriller: Beşiktaş leaves qualification to Istanbul

In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round, Beşiktaş faced Swiss representative Lugano away from home.

Beşiktaş found the opening goal in the 21st minute of the match played at Stockhorn Arena. Meeting a long ball sent by Paulista on the left side of the penalty area, Gedson Fernandes sent the ball into the net with his strike: 0-1.

Lugano's response to this goal came in the 34th minute. Uran Bislimi scored the goal that brought the score to 1-1.

The first half of the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Beşiktaş took the lead once again in the 51st minute. Meeting the ball inside the penalty area following a brilliant pass from Rafa Silva, Gedson scored his and his team's second goal.

In the 55th minute of the contest, Al-Musrati met a corner kick taken by Arthur Masuaku with a header to put the ball into the net: 1-3.

Lugano's response to this goal came very quickly. Seconds after Musrati's goal, Renato Steffen reduced the deficit to 1.

In the 63rd minute, Beşiktaş defender Gabriel Paulista made an unfortunate touch, sending the ball into his own net, bringing the score to 3-3.

There were no more goals in the remainder of the match, and the game ended in a 3-3 draw.

The return leg of this match will be played at Tüpraş Stadium on Thursday, August 29.
