In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 1-0.
In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, Nottingham Forest, managed by Vitor Pereira, hosted Aston Villa on their home turf.
While the first half ended in a goalless draw, the home side took a 1-0 lead in the 71st minute with a penalty goal from Chris Wood.
As neither team could convert their attacks in the remaining minutes, Pereira's side left the pitch with a 1-0 victory.

In the night's other match, Portuguese side Sporting Braga defeated German representative Freiburg 2-1.
The home team's goals were scored by Ege Tıknaz in the 8th minute and Mario Dorgeles in the 90+2nd minute, while Freiburg's goal was recorded by Vincenzo Grifo in the 16th minute.
The UEFA Europa League semi-final second leg matches will be played on May 7.
