Novak Djokovic advances to the 4th round
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has advanced to the 4th round of the Australian Open.
Novak Djokovic, the No. 1 seed in men's singles at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season, has reached the fourth round.
The third-round matches were played during the evening session on the 6th day of the tournament held in Melbourne.
Djokovic, who has 24 Grand Slam titles in his career, 10 of which are from the Australian Open, faced the 30th-seeded Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
The Serbian tennis player defeated his opponent 3-0 with sets of 6-3, 6-3, and 7-6 in a match that lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes, and will face Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (20) for a ticket to the quarterfinals.
The 5th-seeded Russian Andrey Rublev defeated the 29th-seeded American Sebastian Korda with sets of 6-2, 7-6, and 6-4.
The 10th-seeded Australian Alex de Minaur and the 12th-seeded American Taylor Fritz were also among those who advanced to the fourth round.
In women's singles, the 10th-seeded Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia was eliminated from the tournament after losing 2-0 to Russian Maria Timofeeva with sets of 7-6 and 6-3.
