Number of teams in football leagues reorganized
The Turkish Football Federation has determined the structure for the upcoming season by changing the number of teams in the Trendyol 1st League and the Nesine 2nd League.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has implemented significant changes to the number of teams in the Trendyol 1st League and the Nesine 2nd League for the 2025-2026 season. According to the announcement, the number of teams to be relegated from the Trendyol 1st League has been reduced from 5 to 4. Conversely, the number of teams to be promoted from the Nesine 2nd League to the Trendyol 1st League has been increased from 3 to 4.
As a result of these regulations, the Trendyol 1st League will be played with 20 teams instead of 18 next season. The Nesine 2nd League will consist of 36 teams instead of 38. Of the 4 promoted teams, 2 will be determined directly, while the other 2 will be decided through play-off matches.
This decision by the TFF was taken in line with the views of the 1st and 2nd League clubs and aims to maintain the competitive structure of the leagues.
