Oğulcan Ülgün's statement on Fenerbahçe and fair play
Oğulcan Ülgün, who plays for Gençlerbirliği, spoke about the fair play gesture he made during their 3-1 loss to Fenerbahçe.
In the 41st minute of the match, during a Gençlerbirliği attack, Mert Müldür fell to the ground in front of the penalty area. Oğulcan Ülgün, who met the ball at that spot, stopped play just as he was about to enter the penalty area to allow Mert Müldür to receive treatment.
Following Ülgün's action, the entire stadium applauded the 27-year-old footballer, and the Fenerbahçe players also congratulated Ülgün for his gesture.
"IT WOULD NOT HAVE SUITED US"
At the end of the match, Oğulcan Ülgün said, "Mert Müldür is my friend from the U21 National Team. I think he was the one playing the offside. It would not have suited us to score a goal there. I respect him and Fenerbahçe. I wish the character we showed... Anyway, it wouldn't be right to talk. I don't want to receive a penalty."
