Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk made evaluations ahead of the match as the team prepares to host Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. Speaking to TNT Sports, Buruk drew attention to both the importance of the atmosphere at RAMS Park and the precautions to be taken against Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal.
Stating that fans have shown great interest in the match ahead of the clash to be played on Tuesday, October 13, Buruk emphasized that he trusts his team. The yellow-red manager said they want to put on their best performance on the pitch against Barcelona.
Now, our fans will be even crazier against Barcelona. You know, they are very excited for this match, and we are also very excited to play this match against Barcelona. This night will be one of the important nights for us. I trust my team.
Reminding that Galatasaray has played many Champions League matches at RAMS Park before, Buruk stated that they delivered significant performances against Liverpool and Juventus last season. Noting that Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world, Buruk expressed that they will do their best together with the fans and players despite this.
When asked if the loud atmosphere at RAMS Park makes communication on the sidelines difficult, Buruk replied, “No, it's impossible. They won't be able to hear us.”
Whether they have a special plan for Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal was also among the questions directed at Buruk. Acknowledging Yamal's quality, the Galatasaray manager said it would not be right to focus on just one player.
He is a great player. But if you make a plan by focusing only on him, your job becomes difficult. We are not playing against Lamine Yamal, we are playing against Barcelona. But we have some plans to stop him.
