Okan Buruk's take on the draw: We were bound to make a mistake somewhere

In the 20th week of the Trendyol Super League, Galatasaray drew 1-1 with Atakaş Hatayspor in a match played in Mersin. Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk made statements at the press conference held after the match.

Buruk said, "When we look at the first half today, it was a half where the opponent got behind the ball, we struggled more to create, and we didn't move the ball with good speed.

I could say it was perhaps a wasted 45 minutes. Of course, a set-piece, a surprise goal we conceded from a set-piece, caused us to finish the first half 1-0 behind. In the second half, there was a desire to both make changes and get more into the game, to score goals, and to find goals.

We clearly demonstrated this on the pitch. We actually played a very good second half. We created many chances, scored a goal, and got into goal-scoring positions. We missed very clear chances. When we look at the end of the match, it was a game we couldn't win," he said.

Expressing that they are very sad because they could not win, Buruk continued his words as follows:

"I also want to congratulate Hatayspor for their effort. We could have done better in the game. We needed to do better. But as I said, we were productive, but after the goals we missed and the poor decisions we made, we could have especially gotten into more clear positions towards the end of the match, but unfortunately, we couldn't get into those clear positions. Especially in the second half, we fought in a very correct way, we played a correct game. But we couldn't score. In this sense, of course, we are sad. We have an advantage, we are in an advantageous position. We want to maintain this advantage. We were bound to make a mistake somewhere, and we made it here. This will of course serve as a big lesson for us, but as I said, the desire, the ambition, the concentration; we have a European cup match to play in 4 days. We need to go out on the pitch in a much better way and show our unity. As I said at the beginning, I want to congratulate Hatayspor and Murat Hoca for their efforts."
