Olympique de Marseille announces new sporting director
French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille has announced that Medhi Benatia, who once wore the team's jersey, has been appointed as sporting director.
Medhi Benatia, who previously played for Fatih Karagümrük in our country, has been appointed as a sporting advisor at his former club, Olympique de Marseille.
According to the statement on the club's official website, Medhi Benatia will work in close cooperation with Chairman Pablo Longoria and General Manager Stéphane Tessier to help develop and implement the club's sports strategy, particularly in recruiting, training, and retaining the best young talent.
He will also work on scouting alongside Roberto Malfitano, who serves as the club's advisor and scout.
The statement further announced that Jean-Pierre Papin, another club legend, has been appointed to lead the youth team.
