Panathinaikos parts ways with Ergin Ataman
The Greek team Panathinaikos has announced that it has parted ways with head coach Ergin Ataman.
The era of Turkish head coach Ergin Ataman at the Panathinaikos Basketball Team has come to an end.
Ataman, who took office in 2023 and also serves as the head coach of the Turkish Men's National Basketball Team, led his team to a EuroLeague championship in 2024 and one Greek League title.
During this period, Ataman also won the Greek Cup twice.
Under the leadership of Ergin Ataman, the green-and-whites failed to qualify for the Final Four held in Athens this season and lost the Greek League championship to their arch-rival Olympiacos.
Following a meeting with Panathinaikos President Dimitris Giannakopoulos, Ataman's status was clarified, and a thank-you message was shared on the club's social media account.
