In the statement released by the club, it was emphasized that Samet Akaydin is the first Turkish footballer to play for Panathinaikos.
Fenerbahçe had acquired Samet Akaydin from Adana Demirspor for 3.7 million euros during the 2022-23 mid-season transfer window, signing a 3.5-year contract with the 29-year-old center-back.
In a statement regarding his transfer yesterday, Samet Akaydin said, "Fatih Terim played a role in my coming here. When Panathinaikos made me an offer, I didn't even hesitate to accept. It is important that the team's goal is the championship; that was one of the reasons I wanted to come. Arao is here, we played on the same team. I spoke with him, and he told me some things.
