In theSüper Lig, MKE Ankaragücüended their 7-match winless streak by defeating Başakşehir2-1 at home.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ankaragücü manager Emre Belözoğlu, stating that they had secured a very important 3 points, "It is very difficult to play football on such a poor pitch. Both teams' players deserve congratulations, but I want to congratulate my players separately; we worked well. We put the opponent under pressure and could have found a goal in the first half. We reached 2-0 in the second half and could have scored a third. After the goal we conceded, a different scenario unfolded. It has been a tiring year for all of us. With God's permission, I believe we will finish the season in a good position. We want to represent our club's 'cup master' legacy in the best way possible and reach the final. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent certain situations. Situations like today's pitch or refereeing issues can arise." he said.

Answering questions regarding Morutan's contract, Belözoğlu said the following:

"The information I was initially given about his contract was that it concerned official matches, but it turns out it was only for Süper Lig matches. As far as I know, there are 5 more matches left. Morutan is an important player for us. We make changes during the game. When Morutan couldn't show the performance we expected in the center today, we moved him to the wing. Then he moved back to the center. I wish there were no contract issues. I would like to play him in every match."

IT SHOULD NOT CONTINUE LIKE THIS

Emphasizing that the pitch was in very poor condition, Emre Belözoğlu said, "Unfortunately, a match from a lower league was played here yesterday. There is a lot to talk about, but this should not continue like this. It is a shame for the Gençlerbirliği players, and it is a shame for our players. Those who cannot regulate this must do so. Let the efforts of the athletes not go to waste. We are playing another match in less than 24 hours, and I do not find this right. It is not a good situation at all for the reputation of the league." he said.

HOW WILL THE GAME DEVELOP?

Çağdaş Atan also criticized the fact that a match was played at the same stadium just one day prior, directing the following criticism at the TFF:

"What I say should by no means cast a shadow over Ankaragücü's victory. I congratulate them. This is the capital of the country. Two or three weeks ago, before Ankaragücü played their matches against big teams, Gençlerbirliği's matches were moved to another pitch. For some reason, Gençlerbirliği played yesterday. And we played today. The value we place on football is interesting. Then, the expectations commentators have of us are also interesting. What we are given and what we want to present do not align. Two good teams. We do a lot of tactical training. Which of these can you display on this pitch? Then the TFF tells us to develop football. How are we going to develop football on these pitches? Should we go back to the 90s? Let's gather the players in one place and play long balls. Should we return to that kind of football? How will player development and game development happen on these pitches?"
